"Sister, I will not let you get away, no matter what it takes."

Finis is a young, enigmatic boy who is the head of Twilight, a mysterious organization. No one really knows anything about him, not even his age. He is the other half to his father Isaac's plan called Code: Realize. His father always favored his sister Cardia, so he is hell-bent on capturing her because Cardia is the key to the plan and he wants to make his father proud.[1]

Appearance[]

Finis has very light ash blond hair that is tied up in two buns and he has two blue dots in his fringe. He is the only character with heterochromatic eyes as his left eye is green and his right eye is blue.

Finis wears a triple cape and spurred boots. Between the buns, he wears a small black top hat with an orange stripe. His color scheme is orange-brown-white. He wears a big belt with steampunk features. His pants and sleeves are cream colored and very puffy. He also has gears on his boots and belt.

Personality[]

Finis has an inferiority complex towards to his sister Cardia and believes he is more useful to his father Isaac than her.

Finis thinks high of himself and looks down on everyone else in the game (except Isaac). All he wants is to make his father proud and does basically everything he asks for and more to prove to him that he's useful. He thinks that this is the purpose of his life and is therefore willing to do anything and everything to get what he wants, thinking of everyone else as obstacles in his way. Finis thinks it's fun to make Cardia feel sad, often telling her that he hates her more than anything, how useless she is, and how she's a monster. This stems from his own feelings of rejection from his father, who hated him for not being a perfect clone of his late biological son.

Story[]

Prologue []

The British Government is looking for a monster that can burn skin on the orders of Finis, leader of a secret government agency known as Twilight. When the British Army find Cardia in the mansion in Wales, they are surprised that their monster is a woman and proceed to take her into custody. They quickly lose her due to the intervention of Arsène Lupin and Impey Barbicane, but Finis is not so easily deterred.

Chapter 8: Nobody Understands the Truth[]

With the gang pulled into his trap, Finis sends his soldiers to separate Cardia from the others, drawing her into the secret chambers of the laboratory where all of Cardia's predecessors are contained. Finis reveals that Cardia is the 666th homunculus, the only successful one, that their father Isaac managed to create to house the Horologium. He delights in her despair at finding out the truth, and urges her to come with him so that they can enact Isaac's plan.

Unfortunately for Finis, Saint sneaks up behind him and stabs him through the chest. When Saint drops that he's an Apostle of Idea, Finis freaks, as Isaac had previously been in hiding from Idea and written in his journals that Idea was the one organization that could stop him. Finis bleeds out on the floor of the laboratory.

Relationships[]

Isaac Beckford[]

Isaac created Finis first as a vessel to contain his consciousness, and he planned on making Cardia after to house the Horologium. Both Finis and Cardia are modeled after Isaac's original children. Unfortunately, each time Isaac created his Finis prototypes, they would not retain any of the original Finis's memories, which drove Isaac mad with grief. By the time the current iteration of Finis was created, Isaac had grown cold and bitter towards the false replicas of his biological children. This coldness pushes Finis to desperately seek his father's validation, and he is even willing to completely destroy himself if it would make Isaac happy.

Rebecca Beckford[]

While Finis himself never knew Rebecca, the original Finis was dearly beloved by his mother.

Cardia Beckford[]

Finis hates Cardia with all his being, as he believes that Cardia was the only one who received any of Isaac's love. As such, he lashes out to try to make her feel small and worthless. Nevertheless, Finis needs Cardia to fulfill his father's wishes and will do anything to get her. Even so, Cardia's compassion never wavers and eventually breaks through his pain to touch his heart, although perhaps too late.

Arsène Lupin[]

Lupin is a thorn in Finis's side, as he's the reason why Finis keeps having trouble getting his hands on Cardia.

Alexandrina Victoria[]

Victoria's relationship with Finis is only a working one, and if Finis oversteps his authority, she will be quick to put him back in his place.

Abraham Van Helsing[]

As Finis was the one who forced Van Helsing to commit his many wartime atrocities, Van Helsing absolutely despises him. Finis is mostly indifferent, as anything unrelated to his father's plan is unimportant to him.

Impey Barbicane[]

Finis has zero respect for Impey whatsoever.

Jimmy A. Aleister[]

Aleister has a tentative working relationship with Finis, as he is Aleister's superior. He doesn't much care for Finis, but he will carry out his orders. Aleister does find Finis quite fascinating, though.

Trivia[]

  • "Finis" is the Latin word for "end" or "limit".
  • Finis never got a happy ending in the game, Code Realize: ~Guardian of Rebirth~. But in its sequel, Future Blessings, he gets a platonic route. In Wintertide Miracles, the various Christmas stories and his continuation route take place after his new one.
  • Finis loves cake.
  • It is a running joke in the game that no one understands Finis's hairstyle, with Delly outright asking him whether the buns are attached to his head or removable.
    • The anime production art implies that his buns are attached to his headband and not a part of his real hair. The original Finis also did not have these buns or the blue dots on his bangs.
  • Along with the other Code Realize: ~Guardian of Rebirth~ characters, Finis is featured in Sephirot ~World Tree of Time~. He's a member of the skill class.
